Together we will engage in a creative open dialogue exploring how we retrieve information, process and communicate it to the outside world. We will attempt to learn more about who we are as a person and as an artist, about the world we are part of, what we care to share and what we are willing to contribute. In the workshop we will, amongst other techniques, employ secular, non-traditional, Buddhist-based mindfulness meditation and breathing exercises to go along with your art practice. The goal is to raise awareness, allow yourself to open up to what you don't know; practice learning and unlearning; and free yourself from habits and conventions. The desired result will be your gaining insight, opening up to the complexity of everything. The goal is not to focus on sharpening your pencil but on sharpening your mind. If meditation can be your anchor, art can be your grounding. The one informs the other.
