GLIMPSE I

As a visual artist, of course I am always interested how the image communicates with the environment it is part of. How the image expands. How it transports content and how the viewer makes sense of the information.

In “Glimpse I” we have 39 individual images competing for the viewer’s attention within one singular collage. The premise for the installation is to function as a whole and at the same time to allow the individual piece to speak for itself.

Therefore, the way of presenting the selected works becomes very important and the space between the images and the rhythm of sizes, color and gesture has been carefully chosen.

How do these pieces communicate with each other? And does the space between the images maybe create a third image in the viewer’s mind?

I would also be curious to know which piece individual people would ‘pick’. Is it likely the largest one or the most colorful or the most open … ? I will never find out but the important part is that those images will hopefully start a dialogue with the viewer.
